Desired Outcome:
You receive immediate notification to your mobile if you left the garage door opened for a period of time you specify.
How to get it done:
1. Select and Download the CONTROLLER:
- We use Tuya Smart App for this example
- or you choose your own controller from here (make sure it is capable of achieving the desired automation)
- Download the Tuya Smart app
- Type: Door/window sensor
- We use Tuya Zigbee Sensor in this example. Note: Any Zigbee device will require a Zigbee bridge to work. So make sure you purchase it separately or use yours.
- You can browse different types of door/window sensors from here
- Mount one part of the sensor on the fixed wall and the other part on the garage door. Ensure they are positioned very close to each other.
- In this case it will be your smartphone. No need to do any extra step here.
4. Automate using the controller app:
- Open the controller app
- Add Zigbee Bridge first (if applicable): make sure the zigbee bridge is in pairing mode
- click add Device and you should be able to add the zigbee bridge
- then make sure the sensor is in pairing mode and follow the same steps to add the sensor
- Then create a scene "If where the trigger devices is the open/close sensor and the action is to send notificationClick on "when devices status changes"
- select the device
- Mark the status as open
- Set the duration to 3 mins
- Set the action as
Expected Time and Cost
